Faculty Mentor Program for Undergraduates

In an effort to improve the quality of your undergraduate experience and to help us in assessing your needs, the MAE Department has implemented the Faculty Mentor Program. You have been assigned a faculty mentor in the MAE Department or CENG program based on your major. Your Faculty Mentor can help you with your academic plan, future career plans, internships, independent research, etc.

Continuing students are encouraged to meet with their faculty mentor every quarter. If you don't know who your mentor is, there is a complete list below or in the MAE Student Affairs lobby (EBU 2, first floor). Your name and email has been given to your mentor and you should feel free to contact him or her to set up an appointment.

New students receive the name and contact information of their faculty mentor in their summer packets sent to their home address from the MAE department. This information can also be found below or in the MAE Student Affairs lobby (EBU 2, first floor). While we don't require you to meet with him or her right away (we know how difficult the first couple of quarters can be!), we strongly suggest you do so by the end of your sophomore year. It's at that time that the really hard classes will begin including lab work and laying the groundwork for senior design projects.

If you have any questions, please contact Katie Kirchberg (858)822-2035.
