JPF01556 Assistant Professor

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE, http://maeweb.ucsd.edu/) at the University of California, San Diego) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) from candidates in the area of computational modeling of fluid flow. We seek candidates who are pursuing innovative research in the solution of multiscale and multiphysics flow problems in applications such as aerodynamics, propulsion, energy conversion and medicine. Topics of interest include turbulence, multiphase flow, compressible flow, flow-structure interaction and reacting flows. The required job duties include developing an excellent research program, teaching of university students, and service activities. As such, successful faculty candidates will demonstrate potential for teaching excellence and the highest standards of scholarship and professional activity in their research area. In addition, preferred candidates will have demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and have a desire to participate in the School's diversity initiatives (http://www.jacobsschool.ucsd.edu/diversity/).

A Ph.D. degree (or advanced to candidacy) is required in the area of Engineering or a related discipline. We especially welcome candidates who have contributed to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students or faculty in engineering and who are committed to, and experienced in, building an excellent and diverse academic environment.

Rank of position is at the Assistant Professor level.

Salary: Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications; salary based on UC pay scales and market conditions.

JPF01441 Temporary Lecturer

The UC San Diego Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering is seeking one or more temporary lecturers to teach between one and three courses per quarter during the 2017/2018 academic year. We seek applicants in all content areas and are particularly interested in applicants with the expertise to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in controls, design, environmental, fluid mechanics, information storage, mechanics & materials, robotics, biomedical, biomaterial, medical devices, combustion, plasma and fusion, and renewables.
